Before violence, there was injustice. Before injustice, there was peace.
Hotep said, " Before violence, there was injustice. Before injustice, there was peace", in May of 1992. It was just days after the Rodney King verdict. 63 people had died. Over 12,000 were arrested with over 1 billion in property damages accumulated.
The focus of public judgement shifted from the video tape showing the four cops beating Rodney King to how the masses acted wrongly in response to seeing four offices acquitted from a obvious crime of police brutality.
When Hotep said, "Before violence, there was injustice. Before injustice, there was peace", he was hoping to remind people that before the violence of the officers, peace prevailed.
Its now 28 years later...
George Floyd is dead from an officer, while the other officers watched..on video tape and America is now on fire once again.
Will this be the last American, African- American to die by those protected to serve and protect?
Time will tell.
Hotep means peace!
Peace in self, is where peace begins!
