What is #Familyhood? #Familyhood is a community development strategy that utilizes schools for community development. #Familyhood is driven by two motto’s.
- The Friends of School Motto: which states; “every school shall have a functioning Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association and Alumni Association.”
- The Mo’ Better Food Motto: which states: “every school shall have a garden, a farmers market and a grocery store.”
#Familyhood defines the collaboration of the three major organizations of motto # 1 , i.e. Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association and Alumni as the schools #Familyhood.
#Familyhood plans and operates motto #2 school based enterprises, i.e. the garden, farmers market and grocery store.
#1st Saturdays represents the first Saturday of every month as the officaial one day a month for the #Familyhood and community partners to volunteer in their schools and work towards #Familyhood.
#1stSaturdays is the “do now” strategy to get started.
